As a Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Emmanuel O. Agu from August 2022 to May 2023, I focused on advancing early detection methods for Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) through innovative sensor fusion techniques. My research involved leveraging Mobile Deep Learning techniques to integrate data from multiple sources, enhancing detection accuracy and reliability. Additionally, I spearheaded the development of a novel pre-processing technique aimed at fusing thermal and RGB images effectively. By integrating data from different modalities, this technique significantly improved feature representation and achieved impressive accuracies of 93.4% and above when integrated with various single neural network backbones.
